Gilt and Polychrome Decorated Porcelain Statue of George Washington. Attributed to Jacob Petit, Paris, made for the American Market. Based on the 1780 engraving by Noel ale Mire after Le Paon and a Charles Wilson Peale. Depicts Washington as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army holding documents identified in gilt scrip as “Pattie” (fatherland), flanked by an eagle behind the shattered British Royal Coat of Arms displaying the crown, the lion and the unicorn. Base measures 6” in diameter and he stands 11 1/4” tall. Dates circa 1845. Excellent condition with no repairs.
